Welcoming All Pets
Pet Day
Wednesday, March 20
Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh my!
Swift students are invited to have their favorite pet visit school on Wednesday, March 20 according to the information that follows. Here are the details:
Primary Grades 1-3 Pet Visits
Pets may visit between 1-1:45 p.m. Students, parents, teachers and pets will gather in the field in front of the School. Dogs must be leashed and even tempered! Cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, mice, snakes, and other sorts of animals must be contained. Lions and tigers may not attend Pet Day! At the gathering the students will visit with our animal guests. As you can imagine they are quite excited about this event. Students will be allowed an early dismissal at the conclusion of the event at 1:45. All pets must exit promptly at 1:45 to allow for the next group of pet guests to arrive.
Intermediate Grades 4-5 Pet Visits
Pets may visit between 2:15- 2:55. Again, students, parents, teachers, and pets will gather on the field in front of the School. The same guidelines apply as for the primary students (see the paragraph above.) At the conclusion of the event a normal dismissal will occur.
Middle Division Pet Visits
Pets may visit between 3:05-3:45 according the guidelines in the first paragraph above.
Pet Day is part of Friendship Week. The essence of Friendship Week is in building community. When we each know the other’s pets and grandparents (parents, too!) we are able to build a strong sense of community. A strong sense of community within our children is healthy for many reasons.
