The Lower Division currently serves students in 1st-5th grades and in the coming years programming will grow to include a Pre-First Program, Kindergarten and pre-Kindergarten.
The Lower Division curriculum focuses on the development of the whole child. The classic subjects of the language arts, math, social studies, science, physical education, music, choral ensembles, Orff instrumentation, and the studio arts together form the learning experiences students encounter.
A speech and language pathologist provides faculty support for students who require additional help with expressive and receptive language with small group and classroom instruction.
Co-curricular programs round out the educational experience at Swift. Lively, happy, engaged students participate in the many fine arts offerings that are a routine part of musical, theater, and art programs here. Students develop a sense of 'presence' as they are provided opportunities to perform and address groups of peer and community audiences. Opportunities abound for creative expression, and these opportunities further enhance learning accomplishments.
Character Formation learning further broadens the experience as students take part in meaningful community service projects and explore the world of accomplished individuals whose acts and discoveries have changed the human experience.
Field trips, special days at school, guest speakers and performances, and school-wide events are standard Swift School calendar fare! Taken together, our students are presented with broad opportunities to develop and ever increase their language abilities.
