Swift School has been educating dyslexic students since 1998 when founder Gail Swift began a small home school program in Marietta, GA with five children. During that first year the numbers grew to nine students. Today Swift's lovely campus in Roswell brims with continued growth. Gail has always been an advocate for language-based learning differences since she, her daughter, and grandson are dyslexic, ‘We teach a strong language-based curriculum at Swift School with our core being the Orton-Gillingham Approach. This methodology is one of the oldest and most successful approaches for the dyslexic child.' We who share her legacy today are honored to do so.
Stepping onto our bucolic campus in Roswell you will see students who are engaged and happy. Many say that Swift is the first school they have attended where they are able to find success. Programming is comprehensive and opportunities abound for students in the fine arts, athletics, and character formation. All Lower Division students are members of the Giraffe Club where students learn to ‘stick their necks out' for the good. Middle Division students routinely perform service projects in the broader community. The opportunity to use language in many contexts is a fundamental precept. In addition to learning to read, write, spell, and communicate effectively our students build confidence and poise in their own individual abilities.
Students come to Swift School from across the metropolitan area. As I like to tell visitors to the School, Swift is a school of engineers, journalists, architects, artists, performers, teachers, and just about any other talent you are able to consider. What makes Swift such a great match for students is the School's ability to address learning needs while uncovering the innate talents and interests of our students.
We hope that the words and images on this website ignite your curiosity about the School. While on the site take the time to view the video on the home page. Please come and sample it for yourself. We are certain that a visit will convince you that a Swift School education is an investment that will bring unimagined returns. I look forward to meeting you in person.
